All That's Best of Dark and Bright | Ann Mackowski

  • Gallery 8 8 Duke St, St James's, London SW1Y 6BN (map)

Layering inks and employing myriad mixed media including thread, gold leaf and even eggshells, the artist maps and explores human interpretation of the world, both subjective and objective. From the micro to the macroscopic, we inhabit different realities--those of atoms and supernovas, of humours and gods, or simply of personal sensibility.

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

Lord Byron (1788 – 1824)
